The Hokey Pokey

After 30 years of doing the Hokey Pokey (or the "Hokey Cokey" in the UK), it suddenly occurred to me that it may not be as all-encompassing as I'd been led to believe.

You do the Hokey Pokey,
And you turn yourself around.
THAT's what it's all about.

Though the lyrics vary slightly according to region,^* all seem to agree that "turning around" is a crucial step in the process. Clearly the Hokey Pokey in and of itself is not sufficient, but rather a combination of the Hokey Pokey and turning is what it's actually "all about".

^*Some "turn it all around", some "turn yourself around", while others forego the extra syllable in the second last line and simply suggest that "you turn around".
